Home / Faithful Fitness With Christy Baker / What is Personal Training?

As a personal trainer, my goal is to help my clients learn about themselves as THEY relate to their own health & fitness. What does that mean? Well for starters, not one program style, workout type, meal plan, or calorie bracket is going to work for every person. Therefore, I take it as not only my job to be able to quickly help you find what will work for you, but also help educate you in how to maintain that and incorporate it into a lifestyle vs a “Fad” type diet. As a former “Yo-Yo” dieter, I know firsthand the physical and emotional damages that going up and down, in weight and commitment, drastically over smaller periods of time can do to your body, mental state, and future progress.

My focus is also on helping my clients find and reach their full potential, whether they have a fitness background or have never lifted a weight or done a push up in their life. I work with clients that have goals to loose 70+lbs to those that just want to maintain their current weight while toning muscle and increasing their overall health. Some of my clients want to increase endurance and others just have 5 or 10 lbs to loose. Some individuals want to get off medications by increasing their activity levels and learning better eating habits.

My personal style of teaching is utilizing Interval Training and body weight moves using Form, Range of Motion, and then Speed to build and tone muscle, add balance and core strength, burn calories for fat loss, and build cardio endurance and overall strength and endurance. I also use treadmills, free weights, spin bikes, and, a personal favorite of mine, the TRX Strap for more advance moves and clients.

Some popular trainers that I follow on social media, get advice from, and write workouts from include celebrity trainers like Chalene Johnson, Tony Horton, Shaun T, Chris & Heidi Powell & Brett Hobel.
